What Children Can Teach You About Content Marketing?

Learn anything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can – there will always come a time when you will be grateful that you did.

A good content marketer always analyses things around him. He needs to be up-to-date by learning new things.

If you are committed to learning new things, no one can stop you; even kids can teach you many things.

You must be wondering how kids can do that?

But, it’s true! Children are a good teacher.

Have you ever noticed children’s activities? How do they play? How do they examine new things?

If you watch them carefully, you can learn several content marketing skills that you might not be aware of. Some of them are as under-

#1. Creative Mind (Always thinks about new ideas)

Children always look for something new. They hardly play with toys more than two or three days. Young ones need something new to indulge with almost every single day.

Same thing goes for people like us… as content marketers, we must know that if we provide similar content to our audiences all the time, they will get bored too.

Audience engagement is critical for the success of content marketing.

Following are the tips to provide content that increase audience’s engagement:

  1. Convert your post into a SlideShare
  2. Offer a list of benefits
  3. Predict future trends that affect users life or business
  4. Interview industry experts
  5. Conduct a case-study

#2. Kids grasp things faster than adults (Fast Learner)

happy kid

Do you know children learn faster than adults? But how does this happen?

The answer is, they love exploring everything in their own way.

Children make learning a hobby while adults learn from the books.

Marketers should not only depend on the bookish knowledge.

One of the best ways to learn something fast is to do-it-yourself. Kids learn new things by doing themselves.

Children can do anything for whatever they want – they are goal oriented. If a kid decides to get a new toy, he will not stop until he gets it.

I have seen many bloggers start blogging with full determination, but they stop it after one or two months.

Make a goal and don’t stop until you achieve it.

#3. Kids Don’t Lie (Transparency)

Children don’t lie, and they never hide the truth.

Today’s marketing style is changing every day. People are more likely to trust on brands that show transparency about their products and services.

Brands like Domino’s and Mcdonald’s are famous for their honesty and clarity towards their consumers.

Treat your users like your best pal, and they will reward you by being a regular customer.

A kid knows how to get attention – Children are the best attention seeker in the world. They do silly, funny and cute things that make people notice and adore them.

As a content marketer, we should know how to get our readers’ attention.

If the user does not notice your content, they will not read it.

You can do the following things to get attention of your consumers:

  1. Write a compelling title
  2. Add funny images in your content
  3. Use videos
  4. Make an infographic that attracts the users

#4. Every day is a fresh start

Kids can not be angry more than a day. Everyday is a new beginning for them.

They wake up every morning with a goal to learn new things.

You should not be worried if your content did not do well as you had expected.

Just close your eyes and believe everything is going to be okay.

A single blog post failure doesn’t mean that you have lost the battle!

Try to figure out why your previous content did not perform well and how you can improve your next attempt!

#5. Good Observers sees the most

Children are excellent observers. They notice the tiniest of things in the world which adults usually miss.

A successful content marketer too should have this quality.

You can improve your conversion rate if you carefully observe your website content.

There is a tool called Heatmap that can make your job easier. But, still there are many things which you have to do yourself such as AB testing, content format, etc.

#6. It’s OK to ask for help

kid asking for help

Has any kid ever asked you to open his tiffin or water bottle?

I guess. They had.

Kids never regret to ask for help.

If you don’t know something, you must not be embarrassed to ask for help…

People will be happy to assist you if you ask them politely for help.

#7. Children know the power of their emotions

A kid knows the power of his emotions, and how to use them in different situations to achieve the things that he needs. This could be anything, a toy, candy or even going out for an adventure.

Using emotions in content marketing also is essential for the success of content marketing.

When a user buys a product, he uses 85% emotion and 15% logic.

If you create content that emotionally touches your users, your chances of selling your products or services to them increases.

#8. Don’t give a damn about what other people think

Kids do not care what others think about them. They do whatever they want to do.

You will meet many people in your life, who will advise you on content marketing.

You listen to them but do only what is right and practical.

There are many people who learn from nature, pets as well as people. You must also seek your own inspiration and be a learner! And, don’t stop until your last breath.

Let me know what other resources you use to learn new things as a content marketer?
